Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag was questioned on Antony's piece of skill against FC Sheriff which caused a stir on social media as the Red Devils progressed from their Europa League group
Erik ten Hag has vowed to "correct" Antony after the Manchester United winger sent Twitter into meltdown with an "embarrassing" piece of skill.
United sealed a place in the Europa League knockout stages on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over FC Sheriff, after Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo all netted. But the moment that really set tongues wagging was when £85million signing Antony performed a 720 degree turn.
At 0-0 in the first half, the 22-year-old Brazilian whipped out his trademark showboating move, before playing a pass towards an onrushing Casemiro. His attempt went straight out of play and the dribbler was substituted off at half time in favour of Rashford.

It left co-commentator Robbie Savage unimpressed, with the ex-midfielder calling it “ridiculous” and “quite embarrassing”. While fans at Old Trafford cheered the eye-catching skill, others on social media shared Savage’s feelings.

One Twitter user wrote: “He has more showboating skills than actual take on skills...he seems more of a freestyler than a footballer...” Another brutally added: “100 million for a fidget spinner.”
United manager Ten Hag refrained from slamming his player in his post-match press conference. But the Dutchman, who is no stranger to Antony’s tricks from their time together at Ajax, admitted he would need to “correct” the winger.
Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference: “I do not have a problem with that, as long as it is functional. So from him, like everyone else, I demand more.
“More runs behind, being more often in the (opposition’s) box. More pressing. More dribbles against opponents. More playing in the pockets. We demand more dominance.
“Then there is a trick like that which is nice, but as long as it is functional and you do not lose the ball. Then it is ok. But it is a trick and because of the trick, I will correct him.”
