Yerry Mina 'targeted' by Roma as Everton defender named as transfer alternative
Yerry Mina's Everton contract expires next summer and there are rumours around his future
Jose Mourinho could pursue a move for Everton defender Yerry Mina if he fails to land his first-choice targets at Roma next summer, according to reports.
Italian publication Calciodangolo states that the Italian giants will rival Arsenal for the signature of 23-year-old Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka. However, the Europa Conference League winners may apparently explore the option of signing Everton's Colombian centre-back upon the expiration of his contract if the Gunners secure the Frenchman's services.
"If the negotiation for Evan Ndicka were to get complicated for Roma, there are other names that could suit José Mourinho," says Calciodangolo. "One of them is Everton's Yerry Mina . The 28-year-old Colombian defender will be a free agent since June 2023, the English club has no plans to renew his contract. Mina has only played 70 minutes this year and wants to 'change the air' to play more consistently."

Mina has been at Everton since the summer of 2018 when he signed from Barcelona for a fee of £27m, but injuries and a battle for consistency have disrupted his spell at Goodison Park. Having limped off in the Blues' contest with Chelsea on the opening day of the season, manager Frank Lampard was forced to plot Everton's future in his absence and signed Conor Coady on a season-long loan from Wolves.
The former Molineux captain has been a revelation for the Toffees since and has formed an impressive partnership with fellow summer addition James Tarkowski at the heart of the Blues' defence.
Mina could make a return to training ahead of the Premier League's World Cup hiatus, but with Tarkowski and Coady both excelling under Lampard, Mina's chances at Goodison arguably look to be limited between now and the end of the season. The former Barcelona man will no doubt be wanting to feature regularly as he enters the prime years of his career.
