Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Max Aarons from Norwich City as they look to bolster their options at right-back.

Erik ten Hag saw six new signings arrive at Old Trafford during his first summer in charge at the club as eyes now turn to the January transfer window. The right-back position was one of concern before the season started, but the superb performances of Diogo Dalot have lessened the urgency to recruit in that position.

After United's 1-0 win against West Ham on Sunday, Ten Hag admitted that despite Dalot's resurgence in the role, the Reds still need to have two viable right-backs that can compete for a starting position. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka not appearing to be in the Dutchman's first-team plans, a familiar name has emerged as a reported option to compete with the Portuguese full-back.

According to Football Insider, Aarons, who has been linked with the Reds previously, is on United's radar after impressing with the Canaries in the Championship. The 22-year-old's contract is set to run out in 2024, and Norwich could well be eager to cash in on their defender before he enters the final year of his deal next season.

After being warned against a heavy January transfer window spend, Ten Hag could well be keen on a move for Aarons with the possibility of the full-back being available for just £15million. However, should a deal for Aarons fail to materialise, United have been linked with another option.

According to German outlet Sport 1 (via Sport Witness), Benjamin Pavard is frustrated with his current situation at Bayern Munich, with United being linked with a potential move for the French international.

Pavard came on as a second-half substitute during Bayern's 6-2 win against Mainz 05 on Saturday, but the 26-year-old is eager to start more matches. The report claims that the Bundesliga side are not interested in extending his contract beyond 2024, as Ten Hag eyes up his seventh signing as United manager.
