Celtic fans are all saying the same thing as Stuart Armstrong makes shock punditry appearance for Real Madrid showdown

CELTIC fans have become well accustomed to ex-Hoops stars such as Chris Sutton and John Hartson appearing regularly on TV broadcasts involving the Parkhead club.

But it's safe to say supporters weren't quite expecting to see Stuart Armstrong on BT Sport!

While Sutton was in Madrid on commentary duties, former Celtic ace Armstrong rocked up in a surprise appearance as one of the studio pundits back at BT's London HQ.

The 30-year old Scotland star took his place on the sofa alongside former Real Madrid and England star Steve McManaman and Scots host Emma Dodds.

Armstrong proved a popular figure at Parkhead after joining from Dundee United in January 2015.

He went on to enjoy three and a half seasons in Glasgow's east end, winning four league championships and two Scottish Cups and League Cups each.

Armstrong moved to England in the summer of 2018, joining Premier League side Southampton in a £7million deal.

Since his move to the Saints, there hasn't been much to speak of regarding a connection between Armstrong and his old club.

But that changed here as made his surprise appearance as a pundit for the big Bernabeu clash.

Hoops fans were pleased to see the man who made 144 appearances and 28 goals back representing the club - although they were rather surprised to see him in this capacity to say the least!

One fan wrote: "Stuart Armstrong - what?"

Another said: "What is Stuart Armstrong doing as a pundit?"

A third similarly said: "Why's Stuart Armstrong on the BT panel?"
