Callum Davidson banishes Rangers theory as St Johnstone boss explains why European woe won't spell domestic dismay

Callum Davidson says he hasn't even watched Rangers in Europe - as it has no bearing on how Sunday's game against his St Johnstone side will go.

It's been a calamitous return to the Champions League for manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he oversaw six straight Light Blues losses in Group A, coming in as the 'worst ever' team to have competed at the group stages in Europe's elite competition.

They return to Premiership action on Sunday at McDiarmid Park but the Perth boss says there's no point watching how Rangers cope with teams such as Ajax, who they suffered a 3-1 loss to on Tuesday. There's a difference in levels and instead St Johnstone have to focus on their own game and frustrating van Bronckhorst's men, who are four points behind Celtic in the title race. Davidson told Sky: "I don't really watch the games in Europe. There's a difference in levels.

"We have a level where we are. We need to try and put a plan in place to beat Rangers. I think their league form has been really good.

"They have only lost one league game this season so it is their league form that we are looking at and how they play. When you play Celtic and Rangers, it's really important you try and keep them quiet in the first 25-30 minutes, and try to frustrate them.
