Now McGeady, who’s invested his football millions in property, recently added the Southside apartment to his portfolio.

The one-bedroom flat – bought for £90,000 - is a five-minute stroll from the National Stadium, which can be spied from the back window.

A source said: “Aiden’s a Southside lad and he owes his career to Queens Park as they were the first club to back his talent.

“The game has taken him to England and across Europe, but he’s never forgotten his football roots.

“He’s not always had the best financial advice. You can’t go wrong with property, though, and this flat fits the bill for his portfolio.

“It’s a renter, nothing flash, but it’s close to the football and the train station into town. And there’s even a wee squint of Hampden out the window. Can’t lose.”

McGeady won seven major honours in as many season with Celtic before signing with Russian outfit Spartak Moscow for £9.5 million in 2010.

He then played in the Premier League with Everton and, last summer, returned to Scotland with Hibs after five years with Sunderland, though his spell at Easter Road has been marred by injury.

Although Glasgow-raised, McGeady chose to represent Ireland at international level, winning 93 caps.

The 36-year-old has previously been unlucky in his business dealings.
He invested in a Glasgow restaurant - The Black Dove in Shawlands – which shut down in 2017.

And then an eco-boiler company he part-owned collapsed in 2019 shortly after he gave up his shares.

However, he has now amassed properties worth more than £6 million.

Fellow ex-Celtic and Hibs ace Leigh Griffiths put his £675,000 villa up for sale last week.

The striker, 32, shares the four bedroomed property located in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, with his girlfriend Caitlyn Melville.

It has a cinema room and a bar, three bathrooms, air pump heating and a 'professional' CCTV system.
