GOOD RIDDANCE

Disgraced footballer David Goodwillie WON’T play for new club again as Livingston United players consider their future

DISGRACED footballer David Goodwillie will NOT play for Livingston United again.

The 33-year old, who was ruled in 2017 to be a rapist by a civil court, appeared for the East of Scotland League side as a trialist on Saturday.

However, the Scottish Sun understands that he won't feature for the club again.

The former Scotland international has been at the centre of controversy all year following Raith Rovers' botched signing of him back in January.

The Championship club announced his signing at the end of the transfer window only to be met with a furious backlash from the Kirkcaldy club's fans.

The Raith women's team re-branded, senior club figures resigned and sponsor Val McDermid withdrew her support following his arrival from Clyde.

Goodwillie never played for Raith, but it wasn't until the end of September that his contract was finally ended.

There was also an attempt to send him back to Clyde on loan, but that too was met with an angry response, including the council owners of the club's then-Broadwood home saying he'd be refused entry.

Having been without a club since his Raith contract came to an end, Goodwillie made a shock return as a trialist for Livingston United on Saturday.

He scored twice in a 3-1 win over Fauldhouse United, a game played at the NINTH level of Scottish football, in the East of Scotland League Third Division.

His name didn't, however, appear on the teamsheet as he was simply listed as "trialist."

However, sources close to the club say that the decision has now been taken that Goodwillie will not be permitted to play for or train with Livingston United again.

It's also believed that the players are now deciding whether or not they want to continue representing the club in the wake of these developments.

The Scottish Sun has contacted Livingston United for comment on the situation.
