Rangers boss deserves World Cup stay of execution on ONE condition warns Kenny Miller

KENNY MILLER insists Rangers shouldn't pull the trigger on Giovanni Van Bronckhorst just yet.

The ex-Gers striker believes the beleaguered boss should be given at least until the World Cup break.

The pressure on the Dutchman’s position has intensified in the wake of Sunday’s loss to St Johnstone

And Miller reckons he cannot afford another slip-up if he is to weather the current storm with his job intact.

He said: “Rangers must get to the break with no more dropped points.

“At the moment there is something not right.

“I still think he should see it through to the break.

“If you can get maximum points it gives you five weeks to put in some serious work on the training ground.

“You can maybe get key players back and hopefully attack the second half of the season.

“You can sense the unrest and the manager will know the pressure falls on his shoulders.

“If you fall seven points back after 13 games he will know there will be serious questions asked of him.”

Miller accepts it is a long way back now for Rangers in the title race

The former Ibrox forward is worried about the complete lack of a cutting edge.

But, he does feel there can be a turnaround if the players quickly rediscover their confidence.

Miller said: “They have some good players but they are struggling.

“They have so much possession and territory and the amount of crosses going into the box is phenomenal.

“But teams are quite happy to deal with that.

Rangers should have more of a creative spark.

“There is a lot missing at the moment and there is real concern in the building.

“You can sense the fans getting a little bit nervous about how the season is going to go.

“Rangers are a long way back at the moment while there is a relentless nature to Celtic.

“It is a long way back. It is not over though.

“I have been in those situations and you can turn it around. But there has to be a belief there.

“It seems we are saying the same things with Rangers these days and if they keep playing this week they will not win the league.”

A crippling injury list hasn’t helped van Bronckhorst’s cause this season.

But, Miller reckons an uninspiring summer transfer window has exacerbated his problems.

He told Sky Sports: “I wouldn't say I have been critical of the recruitment but it has not been as good as they would have hoped.

“It does take players time to settle when they come to Rangers.

Antonio Colak has hit the ground running and he has been great.

“There have been flashes from Malik Tillman, Ridvan Yilmaz has only broken into the team and is now injured.

Tom Lawrence is a big loss. I always thought he would be a positive signing.

“He can score goals, he can create goals and is a real worker as well.

“Losing him, losing Connor Goldson. They are big injuries to the team.

“Recruitment is massive for a manager and it has not been quite right as yet.

“It needs time to breathe and it needs time to develop. Unfortunately in Glasgow when you fall seven points behind your main rival you don't get time."
