And McGregor has confirmed he'd love to purchase the club off FSG

Numerous rumours are circulating on who could attempt to purchase Liverpool Football Club, and MMA legend Conor McGregor has confirmed he's one of those interested parties.

Responding to a fan on Twitter asking him to buy the club, McGregor said: "I WOULD LOVE IT!

"I requested my information on this, yes. Soon as I heard. What a turn of events! What a club! @LFC."

Despite his sometimes erratic nature this may come as a surprise to some given McGregor is a fan of Liverpool's biggest rivals Manchester United.

But the Irishman has previously said he's keen to break into the world of football ownership having expressed an interest in buying Chelsea off Roman Abramovich.

If in the highly unlikely event McGregor, who's understood to possess a net worth of $200million, was to buy Liverpool he may need assistance with talkSPORT's Simon Jordan saying the club could be sold in the region of £5billion.

“It’s been for sale for some time. The American interest in our football clubs has been there for some time," Jordan told talkSPORT.

“If someone walks through the door and offers FSG £5billion then Liverpool are sold. End of discussion. Probably less than that, actually.

“The bottom line is that at this moment, that’s not the case.

“The Raine Group believe that as a result of the Chelsea deal there’s an appetite now for supposed grown-ups to really go after these big football clubs because the value of them has inherent opportunities for a variety of other things."
