Oscar Gloukh offered Celtic transfer advice by Nir Bitton but Maccabi Tel Aviv star swerves Parkhead cheerleader act
The wonderkid has been touted with a move to Celtic Park amid the potential for January exits.
Former Celtic star Nir Bitton has confessed he has told Oscar Gloukh to stick with Maccabi Tel Aviv amid interest from Parkhead.
Ange Postecoglou has included the prospect on a list of January transfer targets in case any of Celtic stars are snared from the Scottish Premiership champions this winter after the World Cup, with several players catching the eye during the Champions League. Josip Juranovic, Aaron Mooy, Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers all have the chance to impress at the tournament having been called up for their national sides to compete in Qatar.
With Gloukh on a potential Celtic wishlist he has continued to impress domestically having netted four goals so far this season during Tel Aviv's title fight with Maccabi Haifa, and has earned his first senior international call-up for Israel's double header with Zambia and Cyprus this week. Despite his links with Celtic, Bitton admits his advice to Gloukh has been to see out the campaign with his current side before considering a move to Europe.
When asked about offering Gloukh advice amid interest from Celtic he told Israeli outlet 5 Sport : "I had several personal conversations with Oscar in the past. He is my roommate and I had the chance to talk to him several times.
"He consulted me about going abroad, and I think we should not rush to do things. First things first, he is a very talented player but he has a lot to learn and to improve,
"He is on the right path and he is in a place where his ambitions and goals can only help him and do him good for the rest of his career. Leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv is not necessarily the right thing right now.
"I think he is an amazing talent. If he does another good year or two at Maccabi and leads the team to the championship or Europe, at 18 he still has many years ahead of him."
