Man Utd hero Paul Parker models half-and-half headscarves for Qatar World Cup

Man United hero Paul Parker is debuting half and half headscarves at the World Cup in an attempt to improve world peace - and fill his pockets with some extra cash like other former England stars

Manchester United legend Paul Parker is releasing half-and-half headscarves in conjunction with the World Cup in Qatar.

The headscarves, dubbed 'ghuthras', will depict flags of teams playing each other in the group stages of the competition on either side. One of the scarves will be split between England and Wales' emblems when they face each other, Iran and USA's for their politically-charged game, plus the banners of Brazil and Serbia whey they lock horns.

Parker plans to use the headscarves to promote world peace, and of course to rake in some extra cash, like fellow England legends Gary Lineker, David Beckham, and Gary Neville. The ex-defender insists he should be making more than Beckham and Neville from the competition as he helped the Three Lions reach the semi finals of the World Cup in 1990, while the pair could only get their nation to the last eight stage during their careers.

However, the 58-year-old doesn't mind BBC presenter Lineker generating more revenue than him, as the Three Lions former hotshot also reached a semi final. Beckham has come under fire recently after he signed a deal worth £15million a year over the next decade to become Qatar’s ambassador, and Neville's faced similar criticism for hosting the World Cup for Qatari channel beIN Sports.

He also wants to make some extra cash from the head garments to rival the bank balances of David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Gary Lineker(Image: Midnite)

Explaining the premise behind the snazzy headcovers, whilst bashing his compatriots, Parker said to Midnite, who he's collaborated with on the stylish pieces: "I haven’t got a problem with Gary Lineker as he reached a semi-final like me, but Neville and Beckham? They couldn’t get past the quarter-final yet they are making loads.“

"But they’re not going to be the only ones making something from this World Cup, I have something every fan needs - the half-and-half ghutra. I’ve done my research and it’s fine for people around the world to wear ghutras when they are in Qatar."

Parker hopes Wales' affinity with their dragon emblem will entice them into spending on the headscarves. And he's optimistic than the Iran versus USA garments will be a hit in an attempt to ease tensions between the bickering nations.

“The England and Wales one is decent - the Welsh love anything with a dragon on. And the USA v Iran one is a right bobby-dazzler. If I can do something for world peace and make a bit of dough, then everyone’s a winner,” he said.
