The one time Scotland hero showed he hasn't lost his goal scoring touch during the charity match.

Leigh Griffiths celebrates his goal during the Hanlon Stevenson Foundation Charity Match

Leigh Griffiths capped off his Easter Road return by scoring a double, including a sensational strike from the halfway line.

Griffiths was taking part in a charity match between the Sauzee Select and the Hanlon Stevenson Foundation Select as he donned Hibs colours for the first time in over nine years. One team was managed by Hibees favourites Lewis Stevenson and Darren McGregor while the other was led by club captain Paul Hanlon and former boss Alan Stubbs.

The game finished 4-4 in an enthralling exhibition clash in front of 4382 punters in Leith but it was the one time Scotland hero's goal from distance that stood out. Ex-Celtic striker Griffiths opened the scoring before Steve Archibald added a second to put HSF in the driving seat. Sauzee's side responded soon after through Danny Swanson and Niklas Gunnarson which set up a dramatic end to the first half with Griffiths scoring immediately from kick-off after Kevin Harper had made it 3-2.

Defences were on top during the second 45 but there were two more goals scored by Dirk Lehmann and Colin Nish to ensure it ended all square at 4-4.

Griffiths has been without a club since a short spell with Australian minnows Mandurah City in August where he also netted on his debut in a league win over Western Knights. The 30-year-old has hinted at hanging up his boots due to the lack of phone calls from managers requiring his services but the free agent displayed exactly why he was once the Scottish Premiership's top scorer and adored by those at Parkhead with his ability to find the net once again.
