DARLINGTON claimed a third successive away victory as they beat Hereford United 2-1 at Edgar Street.

Quakers fell behind in the 11th minute as a Hereford break ended with Jack Evans breaking clear to slot a low finish past Tommy Taylor.

Taylor displayed sharp reflexes to prevent Dan Dodds heading into his own net on the half-hour mark, and Darlington almost claimed a leveller shortly after when Hereford goalkeeper Dale Eve saved from Jack Lambert.

Lambert fired a long-distance effort against the crossbar as Quakers continued to press on the stroke of half-time, and with Darlington retaining possession from the rebound, the equaliser arrived. Jacob Hazel teed up Ben Liddle, who fired into the top corner.

Darlington went ahead eight minutes after the break, with Jacob Hazel pulling the ball back for Lambert to slide home his eighth goal of the campaign.

Hazel came close to adding a third goal with a shot that was saved midway through the second half, but Quakers managed the closing stages of the game well to claim all three points.
