Piers Morgan interview with Richard Keys and Andy Gray moved to avoid clash with Ronaldo

Piers Morgan's high-profile interview with former Sky Sports presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys would have clashed with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal playing in the World Cup on Monday evening if it stuck to its original slot

Piers Morgan's first high-profile interview since Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive tell-all was originally going to clash with the 37-year-old's World Cup match, according to the broadcaster's tweet.

Just half an hour before the 8am slot, Morgan tweeted to correct the start time to 9pm.

Ronaldo and Morgan dropped their bombshell interview on the eve of the World Cup - and it led to Ronaldo mutually agreeing to leave Manchester United after the festival of football had got underway in Qatar.

Andy Gray and Richard Keys haven't been seen on live TV in the UK since they were dumped by Sky Sports, but their first interview in a decade will airs at 9pm.

Morgan tweeted: "10 years ago, Britain’s most famous TV football pundits lost their jobs in a sexism scandal. Tonight, Andy Gray & Richard Keys give their first UK TV interview since then... tune into @PiersUncensored at 8pm."

Morgan later corrected the tweet and said it would be on at 9pm.

Keys and Gray were sacked by Sky Sports in 2011 - after footage was leaked showing the pair making sexist comments towards female referee Sian Massey.

The pair now work in Doha, and they are the flagship presenters of the BeIN Sports channels.
