It was only 12 months ago Beale left The Light Blues to follow Steven Gerrard to Premier League giants Aston Villa.

And after an impressive spell as boss of English Championship side Queen's Park Rangers he's now earned the chance to take charge back at his old side.

The Englishman signs a three-and-a-half year deal and will have his first competitive match in charge against Hibs next month.

He spoke of his enormous pride at being given his chance at the job, while labelling Rangers a 'wonderful, wonderful club.'

Beale told the club website: "It is fantastic to be back and to see everybody this morning, there are some new faces but some people that I know really well so it is great to see everyone.

"I am hugely proud, it is a wonderful, wonderful football club, it is an institution.

"For everyone that works here it is a huge privilege, but to be the manager of this football club, that is extremely special.

"Some wonderful people have sat in this chair prior to me, and I am hugely proud to be the person sat here now."

Speaking to Rangers TV, he gave a rousing a message to the club's support, adding: "You are the most important part of this football club.

"It is important the player's understand that, the staff and everyone behind the scenes.

"We have to win for you. That's what we come to work for every day.

"I want you to be excited about this team, and it's got to be exciting for the players to play in first.

"I look forward to reconnecting with you all. I have seen all the messages and support you have given me previously with this club.

"Now I am returning i can't wait to get back out there and winning games and trophies for you."

He added: "Whenever you get an opportunity to come it's the right time.

"If you have an opportunity to come back to Rangers, or to work for Rangers, it's always the right moment.

"I'm leaving a fantastic football club with owners that were very good to me so there's a tint of sadness in terms of leaving that journey.

"But there's huge excitement for me and my family to come back to Glasgow and to come back to this football club.
