Canada defender Alistair Johnston admits Victor Wanyama has doubled up as Celtic's agent to talk him into a move to Parkhead.

Johnston will sign for Ange Postecoglou 's team after the World Cup after a deal with Montreal was hammered out over the weekend. The Parkhead side will pay around £3million for his services with the deal set to be wrapped up after his Qatar campaign comes to an end against Morocco on Thursday.

Currently starring for MLS side Montreal, he's a teammate of former Celtic star Wanyama, and he admits the ex Tottenham and Southampton midfielder has been in his ear about it. Johnston reveals the Kenyan told him it's the biggest club he ever played for - and urged him to jump at the chance should an opportunity arise.

He told the Daily Mail : "Victor is one who has definitely been in my ear about it. He had glowing reviews for the club.

"He was one of the ones who said to me 'Look, if you get an opportunity and something comes up at Celtic, you have to take it.' Vic says it's the biggest club he had ever played for and he has played for some pretty big clubs in Spurs and Southampton - so that was a pretty glowing recommendation.
