Ex-Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst spotted in Glasgow Airport as fan thanks him for ‘unbelievable memories’

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST was spotted getting ready to jet out of Glasgow Airport this morning.

The sacked Rangers boss was relieved of his duties at the end of last month after a dismal run of form saw his side fall nine points behind rivals Celtic.

A draw at St Mirren in the game before the World Cup break proved to be the final straw for Ibrox higher ups as frustration among the support began to boil over.

He's since been replaced by former Light Blues coach Michael Beale who completed a sensational return from QPR on Wednesday.

The Dutchman though took time to chat to and pose for a picture with a fan in the departure lounge before he caught a flight today.

Twitter user @OhItsSteely shared the interaction to his social media followers.

The Gers fan was taken aback by Van Bronckhorst and his politeness, crediting him for taking 'all the time in the world' to stop and chat.

He said: "Was going to post the obligatory airport pint but after bumping into Gio this morning in Glasgow airport I'll go for this instead.

"Extremely nice guy, very polite and had all the time in the world.

"Thanked him for some unbelievable memories & wished him the best for his future."

Van Bronckhorst was in charge in Glasgow for just over a year before facing the sack.

He was credited for taking the Glasgow giants to within touching distance of a Europa League triumph and winning the Scottish Cup last season, but ultimately paid the price for falling behind in the league.

New boss Beale begins his era with a home tie with Hibs on the 15th of December.

And club sporting director Ross Wilson has insisted the club's board will back their man when it comes to business in the transfer market.

He said: “Michael first of all wants to assess what’s here. Probably about three quarters of the squad he knows very well.

“He’s got to grips with where the boys are at again as well as familiarising himself with the new boys.

“But there’s certainly assurances for Michael that if he wants to do something in the market, from the board’s point of view, we’ll try to back that as much as we can."
