Cho Gue sung fuels Celtic succession theory after favourite position poser as he brands Cristiano Ronaldo 'a jerk'

Ange Postecoglou is assessing his attacking options while contract talks have stalled with Giorgios Giakoumakis.

Celtic target Cho Gue-sung has branded himself a number nine - which could attract the attention of Ange Postecoglou as he weighs up replacements for Giorgios Giakoumakis.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker is attracting interest from across Europe with Parkhead boss Postecoglou amongst the interested parties after a successful World Cup campaign, as he netted two goals for South Korea during their surge towards the knockout stage. The 24-year-old, who is also being monitored by Ferencvaros, will hope to add to his tally in the last 16 showdown with Brazil on Monday.

Following the final group stage win over Portugal, forward Gue-sung was quizzed on his preferred position - and it will be music to the ears of Postecoglou as he searches for competition up front at Celtic Park amid Giakoumakis ' stalled contract talks. The Greek frontman has played in a central striker role since his arrival from VVV Venlo as he battles for the number nine role in the Celtic side with Kyogo.

When asked about his preferred position, he told The Joongang: "I am attacking. I want to attack and of course, if you are attacking, you have to score goals.

"I think I should play a role that I can play. Fighting up front is a role that needs to be played, and I believe I can play it."

The forward also addressed the on-pitch exchange with Cristiano Ronaldo, as the former Manchester United star took offence as Gue-sung ordering him off the pitch. The 37-year-old was attempting to run down the clock with the game locked at 1-1, when the striker stepped in.

Ronaldo responded to being ushered off the park by putting a finger over his mouth to silence the South Korea star and made a comment. Gue-sung said: "“I had a fight, but it seemed to add a bit of purpose (to our play).
