Contract rebel Nicolas Raskin risks being FROZEN OUT of the Standard Liege first-team if he refuses to sign a new contract amid reported interest from Rangers.

The 21-year-old had been previously been on the Ibrox radar in the summer amid uncertainty over Glen Kamara 's future, and with interest reportedly set to arrive for the Finland international in January the club could revive their interest in Raskin. Reports in Belgium suggest that the Scottish Premiership side have maintained their interest in the midfielder enforcers, with Club Brugge and Olympiacos among the other European sides credited with a January interest.

Raskin is out of contract at the end of the campaign and Director of Football Fergal Harkin had jetted out to Ronny Deila 's warm weather training camp in Marbella to push for fresh talks with the player. However, those have failed to move an agreement forward and Harkin has confessed Raskin could be dropped to the B team.

Morocco international Selim Amallah has already been dropped to train with the youth set up after failing to agree new terms. When asked about the talks by Belgian outlet Sudinfo Harkin said: "We are at a sensitive time.

"We talk every day. I had a very good conversation with Nico two days ago (in Marbella). We are coming to the moment of the final decision."

Harkin was quizzed on if dropping Raskin from the first-team was an option after the meeting in Spain. He went on: "It could be, but it's not a threat. It's just a matter of doing what's best for the club in the long term."
