Goodbye from the Al Nahyan Stadium
So Aston Villa win the Al-Wahda Challenge Cup in what is sure to be the first of many/some/one trophy under Unai Emery (delete as applicable).
In truth, this wasn't so much a fixture about cup glory in the Middle East, but more a run out for those players in need of game time before the Premier League returns on Boxing Day.
And there will be more mid-season friendlies in the next fortnight before the domestic campaign resumes, and we will bring you the best of them - and then there's the small matter of the World Cup semi-finals and final too. You won't want to miss a kick.
Thanks for joining us, and goodnight.

Chelsea suffer double despair in Abu Dhabi as they lose both the Al-Wahda Challenge Cup final, and Armando Broja to injury.

It may not rank up there with Peter Withe in Rotterdam, but winning the inaugural Al-Wahda Challenge Cup is a nice beginning to Unai Emery's managerial career at Villa Park.
The only goal was scored early by John McGinn, who made cool and calm work of impressive build-up play from Ollie Watkins and Lucas Digne.
It wasn't a classic by any means, but a decent winter warm-up for the upcoming return of Premier League football.

Rankine does well to get beyond Augustinsson to reach the byline, and then just as well to pull a pass back into the path of Elliott.
The youngster takes it on for the first time, but his shot is deflected up and behind by what looked like the arm of Chambers.
With no VAR in use, it's no penalty.

Archer gets the better of Hall - the first time the Chelsea man has been caught out today - and then sprints towards the area.
Drawing another defender, the forward slips in his fellow substitute, who responds by pushing his effort wide of the post.

Somehow, more through luck than judgement, the Blues manage to get it away.
