Deniz Undav and the curveball Rangers transfer option as previous Michael Beale target 'set' for January move

Brighton striker Dennis Undav looks set to leave the club on loan in January - and Michael Beale could revive the interest he reportedly showed in the German while at QPR.

Undav, previously of Rangers ' Champions League foes Union Saint-Gilloise, signed for Brighton for £6million in January but stayed the course of the season in Belgium on loan. He finished their famous league-winning campaign with 27 goals in 41 appearances and was tipped to take the Premier League by storm when he linked up with his new teammates in the summer.

That hasn't quite come to pass so far though as he's only started once, in the EFL Cup against Forest Green Rovers, with his goal in that game his only strike so far in his new colours. That's led to speculation he could leave in January and has been linked on and off with a loan move to the English Championship, with QPR among the clubs who are believed to have shown an interest.

Reports down south claim the Loftus Road side are still keen on Undav with new manager Neil Critchley seemingly intent on landing a new striker to compete with Lyndon Dykes. In Turkey, Aspor report that Burnley and Galatasaray are both also keen, with Brighton set to make a "final decision" on where he will go next - with a move away to get first-team football seemingly imminent.

Should Beale find himself on the lookout for another striker next month though with Alfredo Morelos' future hanging in the air, Undav would likely be one on his radar. Capable of playing up front or off the wing as an inside forward, he offers plenty and boasted an impressive goalscoring record for Union and SV Meppen in Germany before his money-spinning move to the Premier League.

He's contracted til 2026 and having just signed in the summer, it seems likely any move would be a dry loan for now. But that may appeal to Rangers who have been known to go in for January loan deals, and will be looking to get as many new signings in the door for Beale as they can next month, if the new boss decides various reinforcements are necessary.
