Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan now part-owner of Bournemouth despite tiny net worth

Creed and Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan has become the part-owner of Premier League side Bournemouth after American business mogul Bill Foley completed a £120million deal to buy the club

Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan has become the part-owner of Premier League club AFC Bournemouth following a £120million takeover.

Cherries owner Maxim Demin completed a deal to sell 100% of the club to a consortium led by American investor Bill Foley this week. Foley is the managing general partner of Black Knight Football Club, of which Creed star Jordan is an investor.

Jordan becomes just the latest A-list actor to show an interest in football ownership, following LeBron James’ investment in Liverpool and Wrexham’s takeover by duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021.

Yet the 35-year-old Black Panther star’s first foray into professional sports ownership will only be as a minority owner. That is due to his net worth being estimated at around £20.2m according to various sources - only one-sixth of Bournemouth’s value.

Meanwhile, partner Foley is a successful businessman who is the founder and owner of National Hockey League side the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 77-year-old said following the announcement: “I have tremendous respect for the passion and support the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for success of any sports team.

“We will move forward with an ‘always advance, never retreat’ approach that has defined all of my endeavours. I am committed to work with the best football and business minds available to enhance player development, facilities, and the fan experience to put AFC Bournemouth in the best possible position to succeed.”

Former owner Demin had assumed full ownership of the club in 2019 after acquiring an initial stake.

The south coast club are currently 14th in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight, having sacked manager Scott Parker earlier this season in favour of interim boss Gary O’Neil.
