Liverpool once made Benfica wonderkid Diego Moreira an offer to join them, although he could now be joining Chelsea.
What’s the story?
Well, according to A Bola in Portugal, the Reds approached the 18-year-old back in 2020 during his days in the youth ranks at Standard Liege.
However, while Moreira himself was tempted to join Liverpool, his family convinced him to ignore a move to Anfield and prioritise Benfica, who had also made an offer.
It has since proven to be a wise choice for the teenager, as he is making a name for himself in Portuguese football.
Now, Moreira could join Chelsea.

According to the Mirror, Todd Boehly is keen to bring the Portugal Under-19 international to Stamford Bridge as the American continues his youthful overdrive, having already signed Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Omari Hutchinson.
Chelsea also wanted to sign Brazilian wonderkid Endrick from Palmeiras, but lost out to Real Madrid.
Moreira has already made an appearance in the Champions League for Benfica, although the Portuguese giants are struggling to tie him down to a new contract – his current deal expires in June 2024.
Jorge Mendes represents the teenage sensation, and if the super agent cannot agree terms with Benfica, they may be forced to sell their promising prospect at the end of the season.

Liverpool or Chelsea could sign Goncalo Ramos 2.0
If Benfica are forced to sell, we would presume Liverpool will resurrect their interest.
Should the Reds or the Blues sign Moreira, then they could be getting their hands on the next Goncalo Ramos, who also emerged from the Benfica youth ranks.
The 21-year-old recently made his World Cup debut for Portugal, scoring a hattrick in a 6-1 win over Switzerland.
In their story, the Mirror also liken Moreira to Manchester United icon Nani and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Moreira could move to the Premier League if Benfica fail to agree a new contract with him.
