Football fans have slammed FIFA's decision to allow Iker Casillas to carry out the World Cup trophy on Sunday afternoon.

Casillas, alongside Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone, delivered the trophy to the World Cup final in a Louis Vitton briefcase. However, in early October, the Spanish legend said "I hope you respect me - I'm gay" in deleted Twitter post.

The tweet stayed up for a little over half an hour, and Carlos Puyol responded: "It's time to tell our story, Iker." Casillas then claimed he was hacked, and he issued an apology to the LGTBQ community for the content of the tweet.
