Rangers star Malik Tillman has been quoted by the Scotsman as saying that training under new Ibrox manager Michael Beale is much more “intense”, compared to training under Giovanni van Bronckhorst after replacing the Dutchman.
Tillman, 20, was his side’s best player in Beale’s first game in charge on Thursday night. Quiet in the first half, the USA international laid on two assists as Rangers came from behind to beat Hibs 3-2. His second assist is moment of magic.
Latching on to a pass from James Tavernier, the on-loan Bayern Munich star manages to dance around defenders before cutting to back to Alfredo Morelos. It saw Jack Ross compare him to Joe Aribo, who was sold in the summer.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen, Tillman shared the differences between Beale and van Bronckhorst’s training sessions. He says that there is much more intensity under Beale, than under the latter.
“First of all I think we had some good games with Gio as well, but obviously the last couple of weeks were a bit disappointing for all of us so we now have Michael on our side,” Rangers star Tillman said, as per the Scotsman.

“I think everything is more lively in training. The intensity is higher than before,” Tillman continued, comparing Beale’s training to van Bronckhorst. “And everyone in the team is trying to give the best they can and try to win every game.”
Rangers training under Beale more intense compared to van Bronckhorst
If Rangers are going to win games against a low block, which is likely what they will come up against most weeks in the top tier of Scottish football, then intensity is crucial. Moving the ball quickly, being as fit as possible, it is pivotal.
A slow tempo is not going to win games as a Rangers side against lower-league Scottish teams. So, instilling that drive and intensity behind the scenes is only going to improve Rangers on a matchday. Beale is hitting all the right notes.
