Rangers-linked Nicolas Raskin told he’ll NEVER play for Standard Liege again as ex-Celtic boss Deila breaks silence

RONNY DEILA has broken his silence on the future of Rangers target Nicolas Raskin and admitted he will be leaving the club imminently before the midfielder hit back and claimed Standard Liege were always desperate to sell him.

The Belgium Under-21s midfielder has been dumped into their reserves after refusing to sign a new deal and is set to leave on a cut-price fee next month.

Rangers were keen to sign him in August as a replacement for Glen Kamara but the deal fell through when the Finn's move abroad came to nothing.

Raskin attacked the club in a weekend social media post and lashed at the lack of respect he's been shown by Standard.

And former Celtic boss Deila, who is now in charge of the Belgian side, reacted to the 21-year-old's comments,

He said: "If he accuses the club of a lack of respect, that's his call.

"We wanted to build the team around him and I think the club did everything we could to keep him.

"He was given a significant financial incentive to stay, but in the end, it was not about money, he wanted to leave.

"Nicolas is a fantastic boy and a great player and it's a shame what has happened, but he won't be playing for us again."

But Deila's comments provoked Raskin into making a further statement on social media defending himself.

He said: "It has been suggested it's me who wants to end my time at Standard Liege. That is not correct.

"The club has decided to send me down to the B team, but my dispute with the current management goes beyond just my salary.

"I respect their decision, but I regret them trying to make it a pay issue. That's not the case.

"And I showed again this summer that I don't want to leave Standard, when they wanted to sell me to one of the three biggest clubs in Belgium."
