Liverpool fans took to social media to praise Nat Phillips for a fantastic sliding challenge he made on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland just after entering the action.

The Reds centre-half was brought on late in the first half at the Etihad Stadium after James Milner suffered an injury that forced him to come off against his former side on Thursday night.


Phillips was on the bench for the fourth round Carabao Cup clash in Manchester, but produced an expert challenge on the dangerous Haaland.
