Les Blues star Giroud caused hilarity when the brutally snubbed Cummings' request for his shirt.

Australia and France played out a thrilling tie in the group stage where the Europeans came out 4-1 winners.

And afterwards, former Hibs and Dundee man Cummings approached goalscorer Giroud for a keepsake.

But when the Central Coast Mariners star suggested a shirt swap he got a brutal reply.

He claimed that he couldn't speak English to Cummings, even though he turned out for Premier League side Arsenal for almost 10 years.

And things took a further twist when Giroud posted an update on Twitter with a picture of Jackson Irvine's shirt, captioned "how's my English mate?" in a tongue-in-cheek dig.

However it seems that everything is back in order now after Cummings received an AC Milan jersey in the post to make up for it.

Cummings told the story of the make-up on the Mowers Club podcast: “It got twisted a wee bit, saying that Giroud told me he doesn’t speak English,”

“That wasn't the case - he probably didn’t understand me because I speak Scottish!

"I sometimes speak gibberish so he just didn’t understand me.

“There was a misunderstanding but it’s all resolved now.

"I actually woke up to a message yesterday from the main man himself, Ollie G, Olivier Giroud.

“He sent me a DM on Instagram and it turns out he's a great bloke! He’s offered to send me an AC Milan jersey and apologised for the misunderstanding.

"That’s nice and shows that he’s actually a good bloke.

“I said to him that I’m going to send him back a Mariners jersey in return.

"It turns out that we're actually best mates now so I got the last laugh.”
