Ange Postecoglou's Tomoki Iwata Celtic transfer tease as David Turnbull red card delay blasted

The Aussie boss has given a hint that an incoming could be on the way after a commanding league win.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was unhappy with the delay behind David Turnbull's red card - as he delivered a coy update on reported target Tomoki Iwata.

The midfielder currently at former club Yokohama F. Marinos is reported to be on the Australian's transfer wishlist as the January window sits just over a week away. Postecoglou has already signed right-back Alistair Johnston and centre-back Yuki Kobayashi and a third player could be arriving if he manages to get yet another J-League deal over the line.

It'll be a happy Christmas for those at Parkhead after restoring their nine-point gap at the top of the Premiership with a 4-1 win over St Johnstone. Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi doubles sealed an easy win and after gifting a fan his iconic jumper, the Celtic manager was in the mood to drop a transfer tease. When asked about Iwata, he said: "We’ll see what Santa brings."

Postecoglou was less happy with Turnbull's red card for a high boot on Saints keeper Remi Matthews, insisting the delay while VAR was assessed and the stopper treated was too long. He told Sportsound: "There are two separate things. The incident itself, it is hard for me to tell but I thought it was addressed that it was a yellow card.

"You usually get a good reaction from the players over how serious or intentional it was. I don't think it was intentional at all. With VAR coming in, other people are looking at it and making decisions.

"I think the goalkeeper was getting treatment for a good three-four minutes. I don't know why the referee couldn't have gone to the screen there rather than waiting till he was up. It just took too long."
