Craig Gordon breaks silence after horror injury as he tells Hearts fans ‘I’ll see you soon’

CRAIG GORDON has told Hearts fans: ‘I’ll see you soon’ as he thanked everyone for the support he has received in the aftermath of his double leg break.

The Scotland keeper, 40 today, posted a classy message on Instagram, praising staff at Ninewells Hospital, where he had surgery on Christmas Day, for the way he was treated there.

Gordon, who will miss at least the rest of the season, admits he is no stranger to the rehab process he is about to embark on having spent two years out earlier in his career.

And he also thanked Hearts medical staff as well as his team-mates and supporters for the good wishes he has received.

He wrote: “I’ve played this game long enough to know that I can’t take anything for granted, and when I’ve been ‘written off’ with injuries before, every game is one more than at times I thought I might get.

“I know what lies ahead as I have walked this road before and I’ll do it again, albeit on crutches for now.

“Our medical team did a great job on the pitch. The staff and surgeons at Ninewells Hospital who performed my surgery on Christmas Day, and all those who looked after me were brilliant.

“The club, my team-mates and everyone who has sent messages for my family and I, you have all helped in giving me the best start to my recovery and I’m truly grateful.

“40 tomorrow, I’ve not done too bad considering! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I’ll see you soon, CG.”

Hearts teammate Josh Ginnelly hailed Gordon as a "legend" after revealing the first words the skipper said to his teammates following his horror injury.

Gordon had only one thing in his mind when he was down on the ground receiving treatment.

He wanted his teammates to go and grab the three points.

Taking to social media, Ginnelly tweeted: "Merry Christmas to you all. Thoughts are with you skip. What a man. First thing he says after that is “Go and win this f****** game” legend."
