Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing former Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu this January transfer window.

Unai Emery wants to add more firepower to his attack next month and add a winger to his squad given that Villa are lacking natural width in their first-team ranks. The club nearly signed Ismaila Sarr from Watford in the summer, but a move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Now, 90min are reporting that Deulofeu is a target for Villa this winter as Emery plots a move to sign the Spanish ace. Emery worked with Deulofeu at Sevilla during the 2014/15 season and is now currently playing for Serie A club Udinese.

FootMercato also claim that Deulofeu is admired at Villa and a transfer for the winger is a possibility this January. AC Milan and Napoli were interested in signing him last summer but Udinese demanded roughly €20 million and a move did not materialise.

This season, Deulofeu has recorded eight goal contributions in 15 league games, including six assists. He joined Udinese in the summer of 2021 from Watford in a deal worth €17 million.

In his last campaign in the Premier League, Deulofeu was reelgated with Watford, but only featured 13 times in the 2020/21 season. The year before that, Deulofeu made 28 appearances and chipped in with nine goal involvements.
