SAINTS manager Nathan Jones was unable to comment on the condition of injured Armel Bella-Kotchap but revealed he will go for scans this week.
The 21-year-old defender was forced off after 34 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after picking up a concern.
Bella-Kotchap had an awkward fall as he looked to keep the ball in play on the touchline in front of the dugouts and required on-field treatment from the physios.
The German got back up onto his feet and attempted to hobble down the touchline with Duje Caleta-Car ready and waiting, and determined in seconds he could not continue.
Jones was unable to provide a conclusive update on his situation when asked by the Daily Echo, responding: “Look, he’ll get scanned so we’ll know a bit more over the coming days.”
Asked if he was concerned by the early signs, with Jones wanting to play three centre-backs with only four to choose from, he added: “It would be poor of me to speculate because I have no idea.”
Saints face another busy week with three games in seven days as they travel to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, host Manchester City in the EFL Cup and then visit Everton in the Premier League.
