Cho Gue-Sung to Celtic transfer latest as club launch bid for South Korean World Cup star

CELTIC look set to miss out on South Korean World Cup hero Cho Gue-Sung after Bundesliga side Mainz launched a £3 million bid for him.
The Hoops have been strongly linked with a move for the Qatar 2022 hero who became the first player from the Asian country to score two goals at a World Cup game when he netted a double against Ghana in the group stages.
His club - South Korean runners-up Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors - stated last week they had yet to decide whether they would be prepared to sell Cho this month
The club's technical director - former Manchester United star Park Ji-Sung - stated the move had to be right for the 24-year-old's career and the club.
And Mainz have become the first club to make an official offer for the player, according to reports in his South Korean homeland.
Mainz, who are in tenth place in the Bundesliga, have made an official offer of around £3 million and are hoping they can persuade Cho to come to the Rhineland club.

They already have South Korean international Lee Jae-sung in their squad and Mainz are hoping they will help persuade Cho to move to the club.
Meanwhile, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has slammed the “stupid” Ibrox missile-throwers for targeting Greg Taylor during the New Year Old Firm clash.
An object was launched towards the Hoops left-back and one of the club's physios when the defender was on the ground receiving treatment.
Postecoglou said: “Greg wasn’t rattled, but it’s annoying and not something you want to see.
