Match of the Day pundit calls for West Brom ban after 'awful' Chesterfield incident
West Bromwich Albion news from BirminghamLive brings you more reaction to the dramatic FA Cup third round tie at Chesterfield
Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy reckons West Bromwich Albion hero Brandon Thomas-Asante could be facing a ban following an alleged elbowing incident during the dramatic FA Cup third round tie at Chesterfield.
Thomas-Asante headed a last-gasp equaliser to secure a 3-3 draw and spare West Brom blushes after they looked to be heading out of the competition against National League opposition. The same player had given Albion an early lead at the Technique Stadium but Tyrone Williams soon equalised for the Spireites.
Karlan Grant put Carlos Corberan's side in front again in the 17th minute before Armando Dobra struck twice late in the first half to turn the match around. Just when it looked like Chesterfield had done enough to hold out and reach the fourth round for the first time in more than 25 years, Thomas-Asante struck again deep into added time to secure a replay.

It was a painful ending for the Derbyshire hosts, and Match of the Day later highlighted an incident involving Thomas-Asante, which took place shortly before the late leveller. He appeared to elbow opposition player Jeff King as the pair tussled for the ball, leaving the Chesterfield man on the floor.
No action was taken by match officials at the time - but Murphy believes the Albion player may not escape without punishment. Asked by presenter Mark Chapman if things could have been different had VAR been in use, the former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder replied: "Would have been, 100%. It's an awful elbow.
"He gets away with one - well he probably won't get away with it tomorrow or Monday or whenever they have a look at it. And of course, he gets away with it and what happens? We've seen it many times before over the years, a couple of minutes later he gets the equaliser and deprives Chesterfield of a place in the next round.
"Brandon Thomas-Asante was actually one of their best players. He played really well, and he's let himself down with that - but he's probably going to face a ban."
