Luis Garcia says former Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth was ‘fantastic’ as he pocketed Vinicius Jr during Villarreal’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday, as he told ESPN.
The former Liverpool player stated that Foyth, who left Spurs on a permanent basis in 2021, is a ‘very good’ defender, as he proved against Vinicius Jr.
The 22-year-old is one of the best forwards in the world, including scoring the winning goal in the European Cup final for Real Madrid against Liverpool last season.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Vinicius has made huge strides and improvements, but so has Foyth in the colours of Villarreal.
At Tottenham, it was deemed that the 24-year-old Argentina star wasn’t good enough and he was moved on.
But now he is showcasing his worth against some of the best, as former Spain international Garcia praised the versatile defender.
“I think Foyth is a very good defender,” said Garcia. “He’s got the pace, the intensity and the focus.
“You can see every time the ball is almost arriving at Vinicius, he’s got the perfect distance. He’s getting ready to run. I don’t think it’s not only because Vinicius wasn’t on his best performance, but Foyth, I think, did a fantastic job.”

FOYTH WOULD START FOR SPURS NOW
Antonio Conte is looking for defensive options at Spurs as he bids to take the club to the next level, whether or not he gets that backing remains to be seen.
But one thing is for sure, Foyth is better than most of what Conte picks, at this moment in time.
Other than Foyth’s fellow countryman, Cristian Romero, he could argue that he starts ahead of Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet.
But what is Tottenham’s loss is now Villarreal’s gain, as they look to get back into the Champions League, after reaching the semi-finals last season.
