Chelsea in talks to release £35million flop Tiemoue Bakayoko from contract with midfielder yet to feature for AC Milan this season during loan spell

Tiemoue Bakayoko's Chelsea nightmare could finally be coming to an end with it reported the club are willing to terminate his contract.

The 28-year-old, who last played for the Blues in the 2018 FA Cup final win against Manchester United, is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Bakayoko returned to the San Siro on a two-year loan in August 2021 having spent the 2018/19 season with the Rossoneri.

A clause in his contract states that Milan are obliged to sign him for £13million if he plays at least 45 minutes in 15 matches this season.

It's understood Milan have no intention in turning his temporary stay into a permanent switch with the midfielder yet to feature in a single match this term.

That is despite the former Monaco star being on the bench for 16 out of their 17 matches.

According to the Daily Telegraph's Mike McGrath, Chelsea and Milan are in negotiations to end Bakayoko's loan in Italy.

And Chelsea will also allow him to seal a free transfer away from Stamford Bridge in January - despite the ex-Rennes man being tied down until 2024.

Bakayoko featured 14 times for Milan last campaign as Stefano Pioli's side won their first Scudetto since 2011.

But he is not in the plans of Piolo this term, where he is surplus to requirements at Milan along with Chelsea.

Chelsea forked out £35million on Bakayoko 2017 after he helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title as well as reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

He appeared in a total of 43 games in his opening season in England - scoring three goals.

Bakayoko even started in the FA Cup final victory against the Red Devils where an Eden Hazard penalty proved to be the difference.

And it stands to be his last ever match for the west London outfit.

After his initial loan at Milan in the 2018/19 season, Bakayoko returned to Monaco before joining Napoli, and then back to the San Siro.
