Aston Villa full-back Lucas Digne has posted a message on social media celebrating his one year anniversary at the club, just days after picking up an injury.

The Frenchman was forced off the pitch in the opening stages of Villa’s 2-1 win over Leeds United on Friday night. He fell awkwardly on his shoulder after going in for a tackle and appeared in a lot of discomfort as he was receiving treatment and as he made his way off the pitch.

Following the game, Unai Emery was unable to give an update on the defender’s condition along with striker Ollie Watkins who was also forced off through injury in the first half. “I don’t know exactly,” he said in his post match press conference .

“We’ll check tomorrow and we’ll know tomorrow about them with Lucas and Ollie.”

Digne himself posted on Instagram after the game, with a picture of him walking off the pitch, although he didn’t make any reference to his injury in the caption. He wrote: “Massive win from the boys and amazing atmosphere at Villa Park.”

Digne was replaced by new signing Alex Moreno in the left-back position. The new man made an impact in the game by making a goal line clearance to deny Leeds what looked like a certain equaliser in the first half.

Digne has now posted another update on social media, where he makes a reference to injuries but without giving any indication as to the extent of the current one. “1 year ago I joined this amazing club and it’s privilege to play for that’s club everyday,” he wrote on Instagram.

“It was not the easiest year because I got some injuries but you can be sure I will never give up and fight for the badge every single minute UTV.”

In his year at Villa, Digne has made a total of 33 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing four assists. 17 of those appearances and two goals have come this season.

An update on Digne’s injury is expected when Emery speaks to the media this week ahead of the Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday.
