Ryan Porteous bid confirmed by Blackburn Rovers boss – but Hibs in no rush to accept ‘six-figures’ ahead of Hearts game

BLACKBURN boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has confirmed they have made their move to land Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

The Rovers gaffer is keen to sign the Scotland stopper this month to help with their promotion bid.

SunSport understands the six-figure bid is being considered by the Easter Road hierarchy but they are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old.

Toulouse and Udinese are still in the running, with the French side already having an initial bid knocked back.

But Tomasson hopes to steal a march on his rivals by securing the highly-rated defender.

He said: “We have made an offer, yes.

“We’re still waiting for the situation to resolve and that’s what we’re waiting for.

“In an ideal world you get all the players into the building, but it’s quite tough to attract all the players you want when the competition is extremely difficult.

“I know that the recruitment and director of football Gregg Broughton are trying their best in that way.”

Despite Rovers putting in a cash offer, Hibs are adamant that they won’t sell Porteous ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash with Hearts.

However, the derby fixture could well prove to be his final game for the Hibees after he rejected a new deal earlier this season.

Meanwhile Hibs' hopes hopes of landing former St Mirren winger Connor Ronan are all but over.

The Wolves winger has ended his time in the Midlands after impressing on loan in Paisley last season and is now set to embark on the next stage of his career.

Aberdeen, and both Edinburgh clubs, were keen on the 24-year-old but he has disappointed all three and agreed a move to join MLS side Colorado Rapids, according to Sky Sports.

The Dons and Hibees have long been touted to be interested in securing the Irishman’s services – but their pursuits seem to now have been in vain after his Stateside call.

Ronan starred 27 times for the Buddies last season, scoring seven times during his loan in Paisley - and his form earned a call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad for matches against Belgium and Lithuania last year.
