Barcelona to release Bellerin with him looking for alternatives

Barcelona manager Xavi let on in the Girona pre-match press conference that Marco Alonso was going to sign a new deal. Hours later, the Catalan side made the defender's new deal until 2024 official.

This could not be further from Hector Bellerin's situation. Both players arrived in Catalonia at the same time and they were offered the chance of a new deal if they performed on the pitch. However, according to 'Mundo Deportivo', the Spanish giants are not convinced with the left-back's performance and no one at the club has got in touch with the footballer's agent.

The same source claimed that the player has been looking elsewhere for a while, even though a move away would be complicated. He is currently pondering a move to the Premier League or Serie A.

Bellerin's ideal is still to go back to Real Betis. However, the side's serious problems with their wage limit mean he is looking elsewhere.
