Nicolas Raskin Rangers transfer breakthrough as Standard Liege and Ibrox giants thrash out 'sell-on clause'

The 21-year-old Belgium U21 standout has been chased by the Ibrox side and wants to leave Standard before the window closes.

In-demand Nicolas Raskin is finally closing in on a transfer to Rangers – according to a report in his homeland.

The 21-year-old Belgium U21 standout has been chased by the Ibrox side and Michael Beale talked up the Standard Liege man last week. And now DH les Sports claim an agreement is almost rubber-stamped between both clubs. And the same report states the player is desperate to seal his move to Glasgow before the window closes.

Rangers and Standard have been in constant dialogue and the Belgian outlet state an agreement was all-but brokered late on Sunday with the Ibrox side poised to pay in the region of £1.75million with a 20 per cent sell-on fee attached for a player who is highly regarded within Belgian football. Other clubs are understood to have made enquiries, however, the players has his eyes firmly fixed on a switch to Glasgow and is set to agree a contract until 2027.

Beale – speaking after his side's win over St Johnstone on Saturday – admitted he expects a frantic finish before the window closes. He said: “I’m up to speed, we’re all aligned. People think myself and the board or myself and Ross don’t talk. But we’re together every day and on the same page.

“If we don’t get the work done now, we’ll do more in the summer. If we do less now, then we’ll do more in the summer. They’re good players, we don’t want bad players. The clubs they play for don’t want them to go in January. I wouldn’t want to lose one of my better player in January. I think there will be a couple of things in the next 48 hours one way or another.”
