Wolves are about to get a huge Pedro Neto boost

Julen Lopetegui has revealed Pedro Neto is ‘improving a lot’ and should make his Wolverhampton Wanderers comeback sooner rather than later.

Neto isn’t quite in full team training yet, as per a club update earlier this week, but the Portuguese wide man is stepping up his recovery after four months on the sidelines. Neto has missed Wolves’ last 17 matches after suffering a serious ankle injury in the 2-0 defeat to West Ham on October 1.

“This is one of the positive things," said Lopetegui. "He is improving a lot. He’s not ready for tomorrow but in the last week he has made a big improvement. It’s a good thing for us. He was out for four months and he will be ready to improve in the next weeks.”

Julen Lopetegui didn’t field his strongest available XI in either of those cup games. Rest assured, none of Wolves’ main players will be sitting out of Saturday’s clash.

Here’s how we think Wolves will line up…

Joao Gomes makes point to Lopetegui

oao Gomes has admitted compatriot Matheus Cunha played an influential role in his £15million transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Gomes became Wolves’ sixth and final signing of the January transfer window when Flamengo finally agreed to honour the deal they struck a fortnight ago. The 21-year-old midfielder landed in Birmingham on Sunday and could make his Wolves debut his weekend against Liverpool.

He was in communication with Cunha, who joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid at the beginning of the transfer window, throughout the saga. “Before coming here, I spoke to him,” said Gomes. “We discussed things and he always said good things. So he was very influential for me to come here.”
