Celtic hero Gordon Strachan reveals son Gavin’s dramatic weight loss since working under Ange Postecoglou

GORDON STRACHAN insists his son, Gavin, has lost over a stone since working with Ange Postecoglou.

Gavin, who joined Celtic in 2020 under Neil Lennon, is a first team coach at Parkhead - where his father used to manage.

He was previously the assistant manager at Peterborough United before moving up north to take the first team coach role at the Hoops.

And while he's played an important role in helping deliver success to the East End of Glasgow with Postecoglou since the Aussie took over as boss in 2021, it looks like the gaffer has had an effect on him too!

Under Postecoglou, Celtic are a different breed.

As the Parkhead gaffer's mantra says - they never stop.

The former Socceroos head coach is all about fitness, and demands so much from all of his stars both on and off the pitch.

And it looks like Strachan Jnr has been getting involved with the players in their intense workout routines after his father revealed his dramatic weight loss.

Speaking after Celtic's 5-1 win over St Mirren in the Scottish Cup, Strachan asked Postecoglou on Viaplay Sports: "Your fitness levels are fantastic. How has Gavin lost at least a stone (while working for you)? We're wondering how he's done it. To take the team to that level, and you're coaching staff, that's absolutely fantastic."

Postecoglou laughed: "I'm not going to have a shot at any of my coaching staff about their fitness levels, I'm the last one who can talk about that."

He continued: "It's something we pride ourselves on. I know a lot of people talk about our form but in terms of the lads themselves, they work so hard."

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has addressed the links surrounding him to Leeds United.

He's been heavily linked with the vacant manager job since Jesse Marsch was sacked.

But he has assured fans that he isn't going anywhere just yet.

Postecoglou said: "I don't think the fans need a message from me. What the fans need from me is making sure I represent their football club in the right way. That's my responsibility.

"If you've got a player who's receiving a lot of attention, the first thing you're going to say to him is 'just keep playing, don't worry about anything else'.

"I'm old enough to know the game changes very quickly. I'm blessed to be in the position I'm in at a special football club and I'm never going to lose sight of that."
