- Serie A. AC Milan end seven-match winless streak by beating Torino
- Serie A. Zlatan Ibrahimovic: I'm still God
Napoli's march toward the Serie A title continued on Sunday evening as they claimed a hard-fought 3-0 win over bottom-placed Cremonese at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a game that was closer than the scoreline might suggest.
The Partenopei extended their lead at the top of the table to as many as 16 points, although Inter are likely to cut that again as they face struggling Sampdoria on Monday evening.
It was star boy - and birthday boy - Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who got the party started on the night, with Victor Osimhen and Elif Elmas getting their own names on the scoresheet as well.
Stubborn Cremonese??
The side still without a single Serie A win this season started well on Sunday, and they have looked their best this season when trying to shut out bigger sides, but they were never likely to keep Napoli at an arm's length for too long. It did take a bit of excellence from Kvaratskhelia to open the scoring though, characteristically cutting in from the left and finishing through a defender's legs to find the bottom corner fo Marco Carnesecchi's goal.
After that, there was only going to be one winner, but for a long time it looked as though it may at least be close by the end.
It wasn't to be. Victor Osimhen got his usual goal in the second half and, in doing so, became the first Napoli player to score in six straight Serie A matches since Gonzalo Higuain and continue his pursuit of being crowned top goalscorer in Italy's top tier.
The goal of the night was Elmas' though, finishing brilliantly when put through on the right-hand side of the box after some fine build-up play.
