Mikey Devlin set to land Hibs contract as former Aberdeen defender lined up as Ryan Porteous replacement
The 29-year-old Scotland international is looking for a change of luck on the injury front.
Hibernian are set to hand Mikey Devlin a contract for the rest of the season after the former Scotland international impressed during a recent trial.
With Hibs short of defensive cover boss Lee Johnson will offer the former Aberdeen stopper a short-term deal. Devlin is a free agent after leaving Fleetwood in January and the 29-year-old is looking for a change of luck on the injury front. His time at Pittodrie was plagues by lengthy spells on the sidelines. He then headed to Fleetwood and although he was a regular for the Highbury outfit he also missed out on games with a minor issue.
The former Hamilton stopper is now confident that he is fit and well and wants to help Hibs push for the top six and then a European place. Hibs have been looking for a defensive option after they sold Ryan Porteous to Watford at the end of the January transfer window.
During his spell at Highbury he made just four appearances with his debut coming in the Papa Johns Trophy against Barrow AFC. He then went on to make his league debut against Barnsley in October. Johnson was asked earlier this month about Devlin training with Hibs.
He said: "It's no secret that we're looking for potentially one more. It could be Michael Devlin. He's in the building at the moment. I know he's had his recent injury history but all reports we've had in terms of his last club have been positive. It's an opportunity for us to have a look at him and him to have a look at us for three or four days."
