Darius Olaru 'scouted' by Rangers as Steaua Bucharest midfielder leaves door open with veiled exit timeline

The Romanian international has been touted with a summer switch to Ibrox after an impressive campaign so far.

Steaua Bucharest star Darius Olaru admits he is unclear over his long-term future at the club amid reports Rangers are scouting the midfielder.

The Romania international has previously been touted with a move to Ibrox during Gio van Bronckhorst's time at the helm, but Pro Sport report that interest has remained during Michael Beale's tenure with the 24-year-old reportedly being watched by the Ibrox scouts. The report claims that the Scottish Premiership club "will continue to keep an eye on Olaru's developments" for the remainder of the season while they weigh up a move.

FCSB are set to demand a fee in the region of £4.4m in the summer if they are to let their prize asset leave Liga I at the end of the current campaign with the Romanian title hopefuls prepared for "intense" negotiations. Following the win over Voluntari, Olaru was asked about the prospect of a summer move to another European league, but was keeping his focus on closing the gap on league leaders Farul.

When quizzed on the prospect of a summer transfer by Romanian outlet Digi Sport , Olaru said: "I don't know, I don't know anything. I don't know who it will be, I think we are a lot of good players, with quality, and I hope that more of us will take the step abroad."
