Aston Villa team news vs Arsenal: Tyrone Mings late fitness test, duo return, Diego Carlos update

Aston Villa vs Arsenal preview as Tyrone Mings will be assessed ahead of kick-off tomorrow as the defender looks to return from a thigh injury

Tyrone Mings will return to Aston Villa's squad against Arsenal tomorrow but will be assessed ahead of kick-off if he'll be fit enough to start.

The centre-back signed a new three-and-a-half year contract earlier today to signal his importance under Unai Emery. Mings, though, will look to shake off a thigh injury to return to the starting line-up against the Gunners to partner Ezri Konsa.

Elsewhere, Bertrand Traore and Robin Olsen will also return to Villa's match day squad, while Diego Carlos is edging closer to his longawaited return having trained for the past two days.

Providing a full round-up of Villa's team news ahead of tomorrow's clash at Villa Park, Emery told BirminghamLive: "Tyrone Mings didn't play last week. He was training yesterday and today, he's in the squad. We will decide if he is ready to start the match as well.

"Robin Olsen as well, he's in the squad but didn't train this week but, hopefully, he can be in the squad. Diego Carlos is starting back which is very good news. He trained with us yesterday and today but he's not in the squad, obviously.

"Bertrand Traore, for the first time, will be in the squad. He has been progressing well. He will need to work every day and to get his fitness better in order to start and play in the matches."
