His final game in charge was the 2-1 defeat by Wolves, leaving the Saints bottom of the Premier League.

Jones, who played professionally until he was 39, helped set up the first goal in a 4-0 win at Wareham Rangers.

But Jones was forced off a few minutes later by a calf injury.
The Daily Echo reported that Jones, 49, is good friends with one of the Cranborne players.
The win moved Cranborne up to fourth spot in the Division One table.
Jones had a 21-year playing career at Luton Town, Southend United, Brighton and and Yeovil Town.
He then turned to coaching with two successful spells at Luton either side of a short stint at Stoke City.
Jones is reportedly an option for QPR if Gareth Ainsworth does not accept the job. The club parted company with Neil Critchley on Sunday only 12 games into his three-and-a-half-year contract.
