Carl Starfelt gets what he's owed as Celtic star to finally receive overdue pay from Rubin Kazan

The Swede has been owed unpaid wages since his move to the Scottish Premiership by the struggling Russia outfit.

Celtic star Carl Starfelt is set to get what he's owed after the Russian football authorities ordered his former club Rubin Kazan to pay him and other unpaid wages and costs.

The Swedish star has become vital for Ange Postecoglou's side since leaving Russia proving a key figure at the back alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers as the club lifted the Scottish Premiership and League Cup trophy during his debut campaign, and has helped the side to a nine point advantage in the league over Michael Beale's side so far this term. Since the move, former club Rubin Kazan after being relegated from the top flight with several prize assets also leaving following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

They are also at the centre of another messy dispute with a Celtic player, with Norkopping demanding £3.2 million for the transfer of Sead Hakasbanovic, after Rubin sold him to Celtic just a year after buying him from the Swedish club. The Court of Arbitration for Sport is now settling the dispute after the Swedish minnows took the flagged the unpaid fees.

Now the Russian FA's Dispute Resolution Chamber have stepped in to order Rubin to pay their debts to their former players and agents and have slapped the club with a transfer ban until the debts are settled. The Russia FA stated: "Rubin Kazan are banned from registering any new players until such time as their debts with former players and their representatives are paid. The ban will be lifted when the matters are settled."

And according to reports in Russia, Starfelt and six of his former colleagues will receive an unspecified amount of money this week. Rubin can start to sign new players as they aim to win promotion from the second tier back to the Russian Premier League.
