‘In all honesty’: Lawrenson says Liverpool star has been ‘poor’ as of late

Speaking to Off The Ball, Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Fabinho after a poor run of form for Liverpool as of late.

The Brazilian has made his name as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football in recent years, but this term, he’s been very much off the ball.

Indeed, he’s looked leggy in almost every game he’s played this season, and his reading of the game just seems to be a beat behind these days.

Lawrenson hasn’t held back when discussing Fabinho, stating that he has been poor recently, stating that the reason for his poor form may be the fact that he could be sleep-deprived after having a baby

Fabinho has been poor

The pundit discussed the Liverpool midfielder.

“Fabinho is the one really. Since he came back from the World Cup he’s been poor in all honesty. I know he’s just had a baby and he might’ve had some late nights or whatever it is, but I look at the game and the midfield is the key,” Lawrenson said.

Needs to improve

Lawrenson isn’t wrong, Fabinho has not been at it recently, and he needs to improve or else he’ll be out of the squad before too long.

Indeed, the summer transfer window is on the horizon, and if Fabinho’s form doesn’t pick up soon, he will be replaced at the end of the season by a younger, better model.

The Brazilian needs to make some improvements in the coming weeks, but, as we all know, that is easier said than done.
