Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers responds to Rangers ace Fashion Sakala’s Viaplay Cup final ‘better team’ boast

CAMERON Carter-Vickers insists he has "NO PROBLEM" with Fashion Sakala claiming that Rangers are far better than Celtic and referring to the Ibrox men as 'the other mob' ahead of Sunday's Viaplay Cup final.

The Ibrox side's Zambian striker turned heads with the comments he made in the run-up to the clash - with none other than former Ibrox hero Barry Ferguson warning that they could get him a 'slap in the face'.

But Celtic talisman Cameron Carter-Vickers downplayed the incident when he spoke to the media this lunchtime - stressing that those kind of comments are entirely NORMAL.

He said: "For me I have got no problem with it.

"Every professional sportsman has to have a level of self belief to get to where they are.

"For me it's a normal comment for a professional sportsman to make."

Quite apart from deciding the destination of the first piece of silverware in the season, Gers fans hope that winning the final could create a momentum shift which breathes new life into the title race.

The Hoops currently lead by nine points and a significant goal different advantage.

While Carter-Vickers accepts that momentum shifts are part of football, he is clear that Sunday's match is being treated as a one-off.

He said: "Maybe - momentum is a thing in football so potentially that could affect that.

"But for us we are clear that this is separate.

"It is one game, a final which doesn't have much bearing on anything else."

Meanwhile, former Celtic boss Neil Lennon reckons there isn't a single Rangers player who would make it into his combined Old Firm XI ahead of Sunday's Viaplay Cup final.

Speaking on the eve of this weekend's first showpiece of the Scottish game, the Northern Irishman went on the record on his admiration of certain Rangers stars.

He reckons Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are both a 'handful' and eulogised goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

But that doesn't mean they're getting into his Glasgow select!

He told Boylesports: "There's no question that I like some of the current Rangers players.

"Ryan Kent is a handful and Alfredo Morelos is the same.

Allan McGregor is a top goalkeeper and has been for a long time and Tavernier's goal contributions record is exemplary so there are players that I do admire.

"But whether I'd pick them in a combined XI is another thing!"
